Where did you get the filter caps? Haven't been able to find anything myself... I may opt for the EPCOS Radials and modify the PS board a bit.

Where are you going to put the half-power switch? I'm thinking between the IEC connector and the fuse holder, closer to the fuse holder, centered on the power tube socket there.

dcribbs1412,

Your having fun sourcing parts too huh :)

I don't recognize the caps you are using there!

I ended up with some F&T main filter caps and Nicon for the others. Mark

CHEAP! 3402 available for immediate delivery. I've attempted to order some but the company appears to hate Canadians... Canada is 'excluded' from their world-wide shipping list ;-)

Is that place a surplus dealer?

I was looking at their pot selection and it seemed like a lot of different stuff.

The cap that mdroberts linked to is a radial snap in cap.

I don't see any like dcribbs has.
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

It looks like surplus/grey market to me. I can't find the dcribbs ones either... I was just happy to find 330uF/385V in an appropriate size/price! (Although I may be back to the drawing board if they don't ship to the great white north.

Hi guys
caps are from Nik @ Ceritone
thought I'd give them a try..I believe they are 450V
I have some F&T 220's also
email Nik and he will set you up...(always had good experiences with him)
not sure about half switch...maybe take a look after the build is done
Your having fun sourcing parts too huh Smile

Hi Mark
I'm not going too far into the real deal parts...the 330 caps
was about as far as that goes...there are a lot of parts in these builds
seems like I have to place an order every-time I turn around.
would probably be cheaper to just buy the great amps built by members here(Tony Bludo Fuchs and others). Unfortunately I like sniffin solder and asking ?'s in hopes of learning from the mistakes I've made, I'm glad this is just my hobby(ah...just two more honey)
I sure have a lot of respect for the guys doing this part-time and/or for a living, especially when they come here and help newbies like me out.
Which reminds me to thank you Mark for all the help you've given me on my last Rocket build.
Anyway takin my time on these builds...but I'm sure I will have a lot of questions coming up :)

Have fun!

Thanks Chip
I put together the foil tester after I saw Marks(M Fowler)post and Gabbys video.Had the parts on hand...not sure I'll be able to tell the difference
may have to check past builds to test.
