Quinn 183 Preamp

Post by boldaslove6789 »

Just finished some clips of my Quinn 183 Preamp. Same as the 183 in the files section but with a 68pF bright cap on the Master & Ftsw'able FET.

Here's what I used:

Quinn 183 Preamp
Into a
100w Mill Creek Audio Bluesmaster Pwr amp.
TC M300 in the Loop via D-lator with 270pF RG-400 cables (with Master Bright cap ON)
2x12 Ported D-style Cab with Celestion G1265's

Using a MIJ Fender strat with Burstbuckers.

Nice tones - especially for a Youtube clip.

Playing don't suck either... 8)

That sounded great! How's it compare to the big amp preamp?

Thanks guy's. Compared to the Bluesmaster Pre its like night and day. The Bm has a bass artifact that sets the two apart. Both different characteristics but equally great. I'm making a remote preamp switcher right now to use the both of them live.

Sounds really great. I like the sonic characteristics of your Strat with those Bursts in it. Has a nice bite with some beef behind it.

Great clips! Nice playing too. You have the rack dialed in nicely. Really adds a complimentary dimension to the tone. Certainly kind of proves the G1265 tone and master bright and RG400 cables thing too!

That does sound great. I have a couple questions since 183's preamp isn't all that different from 102.

I can't find a website for Mill Creek Audio, however, it looks like he build Ceriatones for people?

That's a Bluesmaster style power amp with 6L6s?

How much does the dumbleator add in your opinion?

Jon from Mill Creek will have his website up soon. PM me for his info.

Yeah the BM is 100w 4 x 6L6's. The D-lator + the cables + the bright cap on the Master makes the amp respond better to touch, dynamics, note separation, + it adds a bit more compression.

Thanks again guys!
