OD Reverb is done... maybe

Post by jackson649 »

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me with what parts are needed for the tweeking the clean channel. I mostly use a single coil strat, so I am look for a more blackface fender sound. Thanks

Well, that's not really the sound of a Dumble. It's far fatter and hi-fi than a BF Fender. You might get more of a BF sound by simply tweaking the tone controls, less mids and bottom, more highs.

I think I should elaborate a little more. I have been reading some reviews of Two Rock Custom Reverb amps and many descirbe the clean channel having blackface tones but not as shrill, and 3d sounding and what not. I have never played any Dumble style amps before so I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a dumble clean sound more like a Two Rock.

That sounds more like it.

Can you record some clips? It's hard to tell you what to adjust without hearing it at all.

I'll try, don't really have any recording gear, but I'll figure something out.

Typical components you'd want to tweak in the clean side are the coupling caps, tone stack caps, cathode caps, series resistors, input grid stopper, voltage on the plates and the bright cap on the master volume.

Hello Tonegeek

Yes that is the web site. Thanks.

What is the difference between a steel chassis and aluminium chassis on the tone of the amp ?

Can anyone explain why FET input has been used in some amps and what they achieve.

Thanks for everyone help so far.

Regards
