Thats the key Scott! We both like similar but different tones. You tweaked Pinners amp, and his clips are some of the best tonally I have heard. I want to talk to him about his recording set up. Again, great to see you yesterday. Volume wise, I will never, and have never played with 100 watt amps at 1/2 volume in a 10x12 room. Total insanity, and I have no idea how you have any hearing left. My boyfrien...I mean girlfriend thought you were nuts, and she blasts metal all the time. Lol! She thought you were cute by the way.  :)

When we were playing at the levels I play in the room, thats right. That was still shouting level. You said with the bright cap it had to be cranked, so I said go ahead and play at any volume you like. Thats when I went into the hall and you said it was the sweet spot. I was in the hall and even put headphones on. It was still loud! I would agree that it was aprox where I would play in a large club with a loud drummer. We were in a 10x12 room however. I like (and need) an amp that sounds great at ALL levels, and I have what works. I take it you need the bright cap because of the effects that suck your treble. I only use the roomate, and little is lost. Once we used your cables into the roomate, there was VERY little lost. Its just personal taste. Like someone mentioned, I also like the idea of the bright cap on a push pull like my Tworock artist has. (Although that is in the loop) To bad we did not have time to plug that one in. hey, I still love the Mesa 4/12, and thats what i use 90% of the time now. You still really dislike it (like several years ago), so its just our tatse! No right or wrong, we just like different takes on the same overal tone. I am surprised you dont really want that straining. Your amp does it a bit, but not nearly as much. Thats one of my personal favorie things in some Dumbles. I dont even hear it in Landreths Dumble, and thats one cool sounding amp as well, so its just different. Blue line Ford is where you hear so much of that.

First off, congrats on the amp Tag. Sure sounds great. Comparing the two Millers Son clips I still prefer the Dumble (even though that guitar player sucks), but again its different recording mechanisms.

Also the TKT is brand new, so that is a difference to.

Again congrats!!!!

Hey Steve,
I am using a Tele in my clip, which I believe I am hearing in Fords original. Fat enough for a tele? :) Put on Fords Miller son and compare to both clips and see what you think. (Also did it at 2am last night at talking levels) You have to hear all three amps together. I actually think the newer ones make the Dumble sound a little sloppy when next to each other, and I like Brads TKT more than any of them! (Mine has loosened up a bit now however, so all bets are off next time!) I want to give you a call about recording equipment. Can you shoot me your #? Tag303@verizon.net I would really appreciate it! Your playing, recording quality, and tone on your last clip is fantastic!

TAG - what Mesa 4/12 are you using? I have a 'small' box Mesa 4/12 since around 1983 or so with half open back, 2 Mesa Celestions and 2 Mesa EV12Ls. It has the black metal grill with the one inch or so open squares. I bought it along with a Mark IIC. I love that cabinet, except when I have to move it.

Actually we turned up a bit, but the Dumbleator was still set about two clock numbers lower than usual. That room is very small and very loud......

LOL!! I hear you. They weight a TON. Mine is closed back, regular size, with G12H30s. The thing sounds fantastic. I tried all kinds of cabs at Ultrasound when I originally bought my first E.Pro, and liked the mesa with both the tan Dumble and Emmy pro more than any other cab except a bruno 4/12. It was a several month wait for that, so I got the mesa. Never regretted it! Oddly, I have newer G12H30s, and they are far brighter than these old ones for some reason, unless its just the 4/12 Cab. I also have the same type of 2/12 Mesa cab, and with G12H30s, again, its FAR brighter. Not sure if its the speakers or the cab that make it so warm.
