Breaking in a Ceriatone OTS

Post by Luddy »

I have had a Ceriatone OTS for nearly a year. Playing it at home at bedroom levels, it had many sounds, but nothing really good. I started using it in my blues trio late last spring. I started getting better sounds, but attributed it to experimentation. Now it is back home and it sounds great at a lower level. I have always used a 12" Tone Tubby.

When someone says that an amp has been broken in, what has changed? Is loudness a factor?

Hi,

Having bought quite a few new amps over the last few years I'm sure that they do have a "bedding in" period. My latest new amp is a marshall Plexi 50 clone which I have been gigging twice a week now for the past 6 weeks. It definately does sound warmer, sweeter, rounder and fuller than it did on the first gig.

Guys here might be able to tell you the electronic intricacies of why it happens, but I just know it does.

Rob.
