Ford's Tan w/green light w/no Dumble-ator

Post by Mill Creek Audio »

Just saw the Renegade Creation tour tonight, first time in a long time I've see Robben with the now tan amp using no Dumble-ator. Some FX on the floor but no rack w/2290. Sat 25 feet away and directly in front of the top speaker in his cab (matching) and was suprised that his tone was far less biting than previously. Anybody got the skinny on that? I thought with that large cap on the vol control (w/no Dumble-ator) his amp would be way too bright?

It takes only a cable in the loop to remove brightness...

cheers

I saw them tonight at the Rams Head in Annapolis. I didn't see a rack either; I thought maybe it was behind the amp back near the drums. I have to say that I was really excited to see (and hear) his Dumble. I didn't think the amp was very bright at all. Really sounded great, especially the cleans. Landau had a Hot Rod Deville and a Deluxe Reverb that wasn't miked, really awesome clean to mean tone. That's what a Strat should sound like.

I don't know what the new Hot Rod DeVilles are like, but the old ones sound weird to me when you put an overdrive pedal or wah in front of them. I put it down to the first stage, they should have used different values for volume controls etc. They are a really loud amp though.
Yours Sincerely
