Hi Tony,

35% at 50% of a complete turn are indeed not that far away from linear IMO.

I would recommend to measure some of the original 70ies Fender 021832 1M AUD pots before placing an order for replicas. AFAIR most of the originals show taper values far lower than 30% when measured (between 15% and 25% AFAIR). But AFAIR most of the 250K 2-35 AUD pots show indeed taper values around 30% when measured.

Cheers,

Max

I did measure Fender 1M from old (60's) amps. They indeed were all 25 to 30% taper.

I just measured 4 2-35 250k they were all indeed very close 20%
Standard Audio taper CTS Fenders 250K measured 2 came in roughly 30%
Standard Alpha pots marked audio were measured 15% taper..
Measured 3 1M CTS all 30%

Both 60's and 70's Fender Pots

Hi guys,
I have a number of 70s and early 80s CTS pots,
different values, the 30% types I measured are 25% - 35%
at 50% rotation, the majority on the low side.
Just my 2 cents

Hi Marcos,

thanks for the info!

Did you measure both 70ies and 80ies Fender CTS AUD pots Alexander Dumble used, those with the "021857 250K AUD 2-35" code and those with the "021832 1M AUD" code? And if so, did they both show a 25% to 35% taper in your measurements or only the "021857 250K 2-35"? And if only the "021857 250K 2-35", what taper did the "021832 1M AUD" show in your measurements?

All the best,

Max

Hi Max,
I am on the road right now.I have a list of my measurements at home,
I´ll let you know soon. What I do remember right now is that the
1 Meg pot used for the bass control read 323 K at 50% rotation.

Hi Marcos,

that's great. Thanks indeed. One more question concerning the taper % values: Do those in your list show the relation to the total nominal resistance or to the total actual resistance of a given pot?

Cheers,

Max
