+1 on that. I once put a 470K resistor where a 470R should have been. Took me a while to figure it out! These were not color coded, you had to read them. R looks a lot like K in poor light.

I agree wholeheartedly!
Say I have 10 resistors of each value I will be using in an amp.
I measure each one, notate the value and then use the ones that are the closest to the value called for.
This has helped prevent grabbing the wrong resistor, we know all to well the 470R , 470K mix up that can happen.
So I measure them and tape them to a sheet of stiff paper and label them with the measured value. Then just grab the right one when I'm ready to solder it into the board.
Plus I like to be anal about stuff like that, just gets me more psyched up about the whole build and the accuracy of the parts.
Fun stuff.
I may have to try the film cap on the bypass to bring it up to a full 5uF.
I also like your neat wiring. It always seems my amps start out that way but after tweaking parts and substitutions, it looks like a 5 year old built it.
Then I have to re-build it to neaten it back up.
Never ending until I'm on to a new project!

Matteo,
Thanks for posting. Congratulations on a fine looking build!
The grill cloth is making me a little sleepy, though.

I am sure the tones would not!

I had the 470R 470K mix up by the guy behind the counter at a parts dealer!Caught it after I installed them.Damn yellow stripe.

With me it wasn't just that the resistor was the wrong match for the plate - but that I thought it was the right match. Self stupidity is not always so easy to overcome.
Lately I was going crazy trying to figure out why my amp is so buzzy sounding (changing snubbers ect). It sounded OK when played in a room, but terrible when recorded.
Turned out it wasn't the amp at all, but the microphone. As soon as I tried another, everything sounded like it should.
Next time I'll bother too break out the good stuff - with a 50 year old TUBE inside.

Re: My First 100W HRM (with clips)
Thanks everybody!
The grill clot is a bit strange i know...My grandmom was a tailor, so i have got a lot of tissues. The one i used in my cab is an expensive scottish Armani cotton roll for skirts. Very alternative indeed, someone may like it, someone may not. Next time i'll use something more "amp proof".
I'll see if i can record some samples of my amp. The more i play it the more i like it!

Samples
Some samples of my amp and my Strat:

Apologize for the sloppy playing and for the ugly youtube audio quality... All the tone definition is gone in the conversion...
I'm very happy with the tone i got. All the samples where recorded with a shure 57 straight in the center of the cone, the Akg in the photo was there just to compare the two mics. Master volume was pretty low (at about 3/10). No post eq added, just a hint of software reverb plugin.
With humbucking equipped guitars it becomes a tone monster! Bloom, feedback and sustain for days.
Enjoy
Matteo

WHAT a great amp you've built. The tone is wonderful and the looks too. What is that grill cloth you ve used? It looks sooo cooo. Great!

No distortion means to tone.

Thank you honeydip!
The grillcloth comes from a tailor's cotton tissue roll. I liked very much on the brownish velvet and i kept it on.
