favorite choke substitute resistor value

Post by Tonegeek »

I used 500R on my 50 watter but what's a good value for a 100 watt amp (ok I know, whatever sounds good :))? I Just need something to get started with. I was thinking 330R @10 watts. (BTW the cement ones are BO @ Mouser at the moment.

For what it's worth (which ain't much), I used a 330R 10W in my last 100W build. I'm very happy with the way it performs.

I think the observed value has been 250ohm in a 100 watter. I do not care for anything over 330ohm in a 50 watter.

dogears,

Good to know. What do you suggest? I'm gathering parts for two 50 watters.

I replaced the resistor with a choke on my D'Lite and I like it much better.

Hehehehe, I went from the 330R in mine to a 4H choke.
But I can't remember what it changed now.

You get more compression with the resistor as in sag?

My favourite resistor is a choke. After using chokes I can't go back the the resistor.
Crystal latice or vacuum, that is the question.

I was a resistor guy until I built a #124 with the choke. Now its up for grabs again. The Twin conversion will start out with the original Twin choke but I am going to play with the resistor idea too, just in case. I am not planning on using the choke/resistor/standby switch so I will settle on one or the other.
