Does the Ojai use a choke in the power supply?

Yeah... RF has a choke in his amp. Looked like a regular Fender style.

Did he go back and forth with that?
Because I thought the RF mod was the resistor.

Awesome bloom and playing Scott! When adjusting the PI for bloomage do you shoot for a value/voltage difference or go by ear until it's right?
Re: How the Dumble is an instrument and not just an amp
Whoa...that is sick. Slamming across the board.
I've noticed the same thing you speak of. Granted, I'm just learning to crawl while you're running marathons on the guitar...but my reborn amp is already impacting my playing. It's a joy to play through.

Scott, when are you going to do an album? You know you need to!

"In this way sound and its figuration becomes an element artificially moulded by art and by purely artistic expression,
…
music cannot propose to give an external illustration to ideas and thoughts as these are consciously apprehended by us, or to reproduce them, but, on the contrary, as I said, must bring home to our feelings the simple essence of some subject matter in such note-relationships as are akin to the inner nature of that subject;
…
From this trend of music we can derive the power with which it works especially on the heart as such; for the heart neither proceeds to intellectual considerations nor distracts our conscious attention to separate points of view, but is accustomed to live in deep feeling and its undisclosed depth. For it is precisely this sphere of inner sensibility, abstract self-comprehension, which music takes for its own and therefore brings movement into the seat of inner changes, into the heart and mind as this simple concentrated centre of the whole of human life."

I also noticed that adding string vibrato can help build up the feedback and that only certain notes will tend to feedback.Structo wrote:I really enjoyed that clip Scott.
More melodic and the swells and the bloom was pretty awesome.
I notice on my amp the bloom happens more when I hang on a notice with some vibrato on the fret, if it's going to happen it will happen there.
But what is weird on my amp is that it only happens on certain notes or frequencies.
Could be a room thing.
At one point I had it working very well.
But it seemed to fade away, Maybe the tube needs replacing there.
So last night while I was getting a particular note to feedback by using vibrato, I tightened the string a hair to the pitch the vibrato pull caused and discovered that it would feedback without need of vibrato.
The conclusion to me seemed inescapable that the feedback was highly pitch dependent and, so, was also affected by the guitars distance to the speak - not so much for volume (I felt) but for getting the phase of the acoustic sound to reinforce the string vibration.
But even while I could generate some feedback, I still felt the bloom was lacking.
Can anyone who gets great bloom please post their plate voltages, as I keep wondering if a PI voltage of below 300 is at all helpful for that.

Like Max alluded to, the chicks dig it.......Max wrote: "In this way sound and its figuration becomes an element artificially moulded by art and by purely artistic expression,

Thanks johan!
Here is a 1.2db hotter mix, with 2% less reverb. Better?

Sweet bloom! I need to tweak my PI Trimmer![]()
Still I think you're a bit too "shy" and polite. Mix your guitar more up front and not "behind" the backing.
Your playing is superb so don't be afraid to show it. Oh, and I want to hear something nastier

Obviously you still remember why drummer never was an option...stelligan wrote:the chicks dig it.......![]()

And here is the proof that you are right (and a bit more of the guitar work of Steve Farris):

I always LOVED that tone on the Eros album. Loved it!
Is that the ODS?
Only a Trainwreck or a ODS does that, in my experience.

As far as Andy Brauer remembers and tells, yes (and usually he knows).jelle wrote:I always LOVED that tone on the Eros album. Loved it!Is that the ODS?
#075 is a "multitasking ODS" - perfect for the studio.Only a Trainwreck or a ODS does that, in my experience.

Sounds great, seriously should put something down on an album. Thanks for the inspiring tones!
