Relay/Channel switching question

Post by analogjunkie »

So I am basing my build off this layout (with the tweaks suggested by Dogears), as I said in my previous thread
[img:1922:1154]http://bad-domain/DumbleLite/DumbleLite16x8Layout3.JPG[/img]

I want to make the OD channel foot switchable, and have researched a bit on the relay subject and I am a bit confused.

1. I am not really sure what kind of relays to use. These? :http://www.mouser.com:80/Search/Product ... 51-EC2-5NJ

2. All the wiring options I have seen use the rectifier taps on the PT to power the relays. I want to use a tube rectifier for my build, is there any other way around this?

All help is greatly appreciated!

You can use a separate transformer for the relay power supply.
This is what HAD did.
You just have to decide what voltage you will use.
Some use 12v others 6v.

Here is a D'lite layout showing how the relays are wired.
This shows the 5v tap being used for the relays.

I believe someone here took an old wall wart DC adapter type transformer, removed the plastic housing and used that transformer for a quick and dirty fix.

But the one that HAD used and many others is the Radio Shack 3-0-3vac transformer.
Not sure if they still carry it though.

See the #124 layout for the transformer info.

Cool. Now about the actual relays themselves. http://www.mouser.com:80/Search/Product ... 51-EC2-5NJ

will these work?

These:

653-G5V-2-H1-DC12

or

653-G5V-2-H1-DC5

Are what I normally use. (Those are Mouser part numbers)
