tube rectifier

Post by JackBrown »

Has anyone experimented with using a tube rectifier in a Dumble clone. I am working with a technician friend on a 50w HRM clone. He is not real familiar with Dumble type amps and questioned the wisdom in using a solid state rectifier.

Why would anyone want to use a tube rectifier? There is nothing to gain and lots to loose. :o
Actually if your tech friend spends some time here, he may just drop the idea.
Just my 2 cents.

We can't really know why Dumble decided to use SS rectifiers, but there have been clones build with tube rectifiers and they sound great too.

The rules are... there are no rules.
