OT.. Amp packing foam cradles...what are these called?
Does anyone what these are called or where they can be sourced or custom made? Thanks

If your looking to pack amps using this type of foam be prepared to throw down..We looked into those a while back and remember them being real pricey unless you buy a ton of it.. We use the instapak 3M. (You can get it from Uline is the cheapest)..

self forming foam.. Get the heater and it comes in 20/40/60 size.. Heat the bag mix the contents and it expands to fit the box.. I ship amps combos included all over the world Fed Ex and Ups using the stuff and a double wall box and works like a charm.. Just a suggestion!!

I'm going to make the trip to Portland and shop it around. Not liking hearing it's big bucks but on the other hand they sure make a pack up a breeze.
We've also made the derby and other chassis deeper 'cuz the combos sound better with some depth and also to standardize cab sizes.
So if I went for them we could use them for all our heads.
I still have a ton of foam board material. A home improvement place was going belly up and I scored a pallet or more of it for like $40. It works great but is a pita to cut fit and all.
I like the idea of box, insert, amp, insert, tape, label, gone. :O)
Looked at a uline packing table....$1000!! Time to fire up the saws...

The cool thing about the foam is it covers and protects the entire side of the amp with 3 or 4 you can totally enclose the amp in foam couple that with a double wall box ship it anywhere sleep like a baby.. The foam I know seems expensive.. BELIEVE me .. Well worth it shipping amps and looks professional..
I have foam heater, label maker,flat card board squares, and plastic bags, all set up on a fold out table from Walmart..Works wonderful..

Rats. The first place quotes me @ $6.50 per about twice what I was hoping for.
Still got some other RFQ's out there so will see what they turn up.
