Jack Pearson (Allman Bros) Playing HRM VVT

Post by talbany »

Here is a clip of Jack Pearson Allman ro playing my VVT X-Model..

The Amp is an HRM PCB... powered 2-JJ 6V6's Skyliner Stack.. Obviously in OD but goes to the boost half way through.. The amp is in a small 12X9 chassis fits under the seat of an airplane.. Loaded w/ Mercury Magnetics power and output.. I normally don't put these but it's such a cool clip I hope you enjoy it.. Be glad to answer any other questions you have..

Jacks a stone cold Mofo!!

Damn Tony, really sweet tone there. Jack is a fantastic player. His finger-style is incredible to watch (and hear). He really milks that harmonic at 2:50-2:55. Great job with the amp. You get great tone without any harsh bark on the 6V6s (what voltage are you running them at?)

I would love to see a gut shot of the PCB.

Well done man.

Yeah! Jack is such a MONSTER.. Had to post that one.. On Jacks plate voltage runs around 400v.. so the JJ's were it..Personally I wouldn't trust any other tube to run there.. At the present time I don't have any gut shots if I get time I'll shoot some.. Since the amp is so small the PCB is all one board that drops in the chassis.. pretty much everything mounts right on the board pots tube sockets everything... I offered to upgrade Jacks to a 40w 2 6L's but he doesn't want me to touch it.. It does have the tweeker pots for the HRM on the board but you have to get inside it to adjust them..Hope this helps..

Thanks for posting that..That amp was the 1st prototype that went to Lou (Non HRM version)..Shortly after we drew up the PCB board and Jacks was I believe #4 that went out.. I won't do another one of those.. Giant pain in the butt to much time involved.. I thought Jacks sounded better than that prototype anyway.. Some may think different..

Wow!
Killer clip! :D

He milks every bit of essence out of that amp!

Anybody know the guitar? The headstock looks familiar.

Are those Lace Sensor pickups?

Killer amp Tony!

You should sell a ton of those even though they are a pain to build.
That should be a great selling point, carry on luggage. :D

Know what speaker cab he is using?

I believe the Axe is a G&L not sure of the Pups..
The whole point of the project with Jack was to get him something small portable and light.. He has Tinitus and a bad bad back so I sent him a few speakers to try.. The one in the clip is an Eminence Neo 12 forgot the model.. He used that speaker for a couple gigs then went back to the EV-L shortly after ..You can hear the speaker lagging a bit on the low notes..FWIW.. Jacks amp weighs 15lbs

Jim
Jacks has hints of the D-thing to my ears but the 2 6V's just don't deliver the low end goods like a quad of 6'L's grunt grunt..Ain't a gonna happen..I offered jack up the full bore 100w version but he wanted nothing to do with the weight and volume..Still I would love to hear him play through one especially sliding.. I'll keep offering it up...
