Insanity Check on my Front Panel Overlay

Post by skyboltone »

Greetings Lads:
I'm about to send this off to Amplates.com for fabrication in anodized aluminum. Please review and critique as needed.

A few points:
This will be built right side up, Marshall style.
There is to be a doghouse for filter caps up top.
I realize this requires everything being built flopped on the inside.
PAB and OD switches will be on the back side. They will be SPST with the switch wiring at the relays.
The chassis is 3"X9"X17". I wanted it this way so that the head will only be 18" wide.

Rip it up boys!

Thanks
Dan

Two things. Make sure you have enough room for that pilot light. If the chassis is 17" long and the sides are 3/4" thick, you need more like 18 5/8" exterior length. That includes a little slop for fitting the thing in there.

Thanks Skip:
I'm using 1/2" Baltic birch or MDO, depending on finish. Dove tail corners so I don't need supports inside. I should be OK.

The worst part of this is making my own layout with that complement of switches. Normans and Oldmacmans layouts have all I need. Just not all on one page. I wish I was better at these drawing programs. I hate reinventing the wheel.

In this case, reinventing the wheel is a good thing. Translating the schematic into a layout helps you understand it better. Makes you think like an electron. :) sh
