Yes quite a few guys have used the Music Man transformers in the D amps.
Some feel it is the secret sauce for these amps, getting that power tube voltage up there.
I believe that mostly they use them in 100w amps.
Kind of overkill on a 50.

First thing to decide is what power tubes you want to run.
You mentioned EL34's.
Are you thinking of using current production EL34's or vintage?

I have heard of people having problems with some of the current production EL34's when run close to max plate voltage.
The VkhMax spec seems to be the one where the new ones have the trouble.

The vintage ones have a VpMax of 800v!
Not so sure the new ones can handle that but most likely a guitar amp won't have that much juice.

I've wondered as well... Why no 50watt mm Dumbles? At least no one's fessed up to it.

Also, lots of talk of using the high voltage power trannies, but are the OPT useful in these designs as well? I believe Bludo uses a non MusicMan output trans in the high voltage amps he does.

How about the PI design - any changes there for the high voltage output section vs. the standard twin iron, etc. output?

There seems to be alot of interest in the MusicMan Dumble topology, but not alot of info.

Any light shed is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Dan

Ps. Tony (VVT) I really like your creative use of the export MM trans in the other thread! SWEET!
