Although #124 is a good amp, there are many other "confirmed" good amps. THese all had 220K into 100K. Measured. Both Gil and I have tried the 124 trimmer setup and both fell back on the standard 220K into 100K. In fact, 124 may be the only non HRM with higher resistance at that stage.
Just sayin'. There is an awful lot of research done, not posted on Ampgarage including degooped pictures......

OK, thanks Scott!
I wouldn't put it past him to try and confuse the cloners.

Well we know he gooped his preamp to hide the values, he had to leave the trimmer so it could be adjustable, so maybe he did swap the guts from another into that.ampdork wrote:Maybe he simply popped a 350K track in there?
No wait this is dumble so it would have been a 250K track, scratched up to 350K and stuck in a 500K case...

I Agree!!
Re: External OD Trimmer Pot
Just tried this on a new build I was finishing up. Pulled the trimmer of the board, installed a 47k in series with the 220k (didn't have a 270k handy) to a 50k pot on the back panel. Works very nice - very useable range from end to end and not too touchy in the middle.
Thanks

I ended up with a 50KL pot and a 15K tail.
It puts the 20K-25K point right in the middle.
I put a chicken head knob on it so I can feel where it is set when I reach behind.
I tried the 100K pot but for some reason it made it muddy sounding, where the 100K trimmer didn't.
So I went back to trying different values and the one I mentioned above works pretty good on my amp.

OD trimmer
Ok, I have it in and it is a nice addition to my Dlite. I went for the 100k with no additional pad. I have a nice older pointer knob on the back with markings for 20k, 30k and 40k. It works out pretty well even without being able to see it, as I can fell the pointer and dial in tweaks as I play and listen.
I am going for the smooth switch next... LNFB shunt to ground. Thank for the help on this guys....as always H you are most generous.
