New to the forum, cant say enough about how great of a resource it is. Thanks for all the information.
I am considering building a Ceriatone OTS or OTS HRM (among many others) and am wondering if anyone has really pushed this amp. Almost all of the sound clips and descriptions are displaying how sweet, smooth, and rich the overdrive is, which I love and is something I want in an amp. But there seems to be alot of versatility built into this amp and am just wondering how it sounds as you start to push it a little harder into higher gain territory.
Thanks
Can the overdrive special get mean?

Can you name some songs or link to some clips as examples of sounds you would call "mean"?

Theres a sound clip on the ceriatone forum of someone playing an ibanez(straight in) and getting a very nice heavy metal sound.
It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them
Re: Can the overdrive special get mean?
I guess I wasnt very clear. I am really looking for a description of how the amp sounds if you dial the internal gain trim pot up a little, give it substaintial overdrive and engage the boost. I am just curious as to how this sounds. It is not something I intend to use the amp for on a regular basis, but would like to know why all the versatility is built into this amp if no one uses it. i.e. the boost switch internal trim pots jazz/rock toggle etc.... Most of what I have seen and read indicates everyone uses this amp for a similar sound.
Are these more subtle settings or can you really get a wide variety of sounds from this amp. I understand it will always retain the D style but am still looking for some versatility in sounds, especially in gain settings.
Thanks for the help.

I think the D amps are very versatile.
Not everybody that plays one wants to sound like Ford.
I believe the Bluesmaster leans a bit more towards the aggressive Marshall type tones.
Also, these amps tend to be pretty dynamic on the picking action and attack.
If you pick softly it really changes the tone, but once you dig in it has a whole new tone.
So yeah, you can bring up the treble, scoop the mids more, turn up the OD and also you have the pregain and master controls that you can really control the amount of hair you have riding on the tone as well.
Most versatile amp I have owned for sure.

Its all in the hands....my style it very agresive and my D amp just screams...I play mine more like someone would play a Trainwreck and the amp responds real nice.....I just recorded a album with it....I will try to post some clips tonight when I'm done work.
