double checking.....
I just wanted to make sure that I get this right..... I'm going to be ordering the parts to convert a silverface bassman to Normster's layout. I just wanted to make sure I got all of the right stuff. The filter caps and smaller electrolytics will be sprague atoms, signal caps will be orange drop 716 series, ceramic discs for the pf range, R65N metal films on the plates. What should I use in general for resistors? Would I be better off using a 1% tolerance riken ohm, or should I save the $ and just use standard carbon comps? Are standard alpha pots good to use, or should I find something better? It there anything outside of what his layout shows that I would be wise to replace as well ( like the diode board, or anything else while I'm at it) .............Thanks for all of your help........................... One of these days I'll be able to make sense of it all.....
Re: double checking.....
For historical accuracy, I'd use the Sprague PS Orange Drops available at tubesandmore.com
You can use regular 1% resistors for stuff other than where RN65 is specified.
Also, I'd urge using the full Skyline stack as per the Gil amp. And, use a 10uf on CL2. Not the 1uf. I don't care for that.
The OD drive and level pots are 100k linear. Audio is not good here IMO. Dumble used linear.
Let us know how the build goes!!
