Combo Amp concept

Looking for comments on this design for a combo cabinet - as you guys know, I like to make my combos with the tubes up, and I wanted to make something a little less fenderish and a bit more marshallish
However, I didn't just want to do a straight copy of an existing amp like the Suhr Badger combo (even though that's a great amp), which basically looks like a Marshall head glued to the top of a 1x12 cab.
So here's what I came up with, with a little cutting and pasting using MS Paint. Any comments? If you think it's ugly, that's OK, I'm just looking for some feedback

I like the idea of tubes-up orientation in a combo amp. And I like the controls on the face, rather than the tweed type, top mounted, around-back orientation. Controls on the face makes it much easier to manipulate when the amp is on a stand and tilted back (or elevated way up on its' road-case).

Thanks for the kind comments
I'm going to go ahead and build 4 of these, with Marshall 18 watt TMB amps, and an open back, with the Eminence Swamp Thang speakers. I have a shitload of Marshall grill cloth, and about 20 yards of Gibson black tolex to cover them with, using the Ampeg handles.
I'll post some pics when they're done - I plan to keep one for myself for a demo, but I should have 2 available for sale in about 3 to 4 months - I plan to sell them for $900 or so each.
If anyone would like to commission one with JJ 6V6S tubes, let me know. The price would be the same, but of course I'd have to cut the power tube holes bigger. $450 down would get me started on a custom version. I can even do a JCM800 MV preamp for the same price, if I know in advance.
Wish me luck

Very nice looking Ken!
Just a thought... What about putting a border around the speaker baffle that matched with the amps control and top grill window? Regardless, nice build!

Oh, I see what you mean - a small wood border panel, with curved corners and tolexed like the top - that might look real nice, kinda like one of those old TV-looking amps!
Thanks for the idea

The border on this cab is pretty close to what you're suggesting, I think...

This is pretty crude, but its looks interesting - sure would make the grille cloth easier to put on, but would require a new piece of tolexed wood.
I'll have to think about this one...
