New Celestion Creambacks

Post by Blackburn »

Prices aren't too bad and some clips on YouTube sound pretty good. Anyone had a chance to give the M or H a try yet?

I've bought an M65. I like it too much. My Liverpool is picky, but this speaker loves it. Actually, this is the first speaker I've tried that seems to love every amp.
I haven't tried Scumbacks or Pre-Rola Greenbacks, so I'd be interested to hear the opinions from those guys that play them and compared... but I finally feel like I "get it" as far as what they are getting out of those styles of speakers after playing through a creamback. I want to get another now and drop the pair in my main 2x12.

Good to hear! I like the clips I've heard and think they'll do nicely in my Ampeg V4. I'm ditching my previous plan and switching to some more affordable speakers that happen to sound better. They look good too. :D

It looks like Avatar doesn't start Celestion pricing on their website. CE dist has the G12M for $119. Is Avatar lower?

I use CE Distribution and, like Jazz says, they are priced right now at $119. Avatar can get pretty close, but can't get quite as far down as CE. If you aren't hooked up with CE, I would definitely use Avatar.

Well, I'm not qualified to order from CE Dist. I have to use AES (and they charge $159 for a Creamback!)
When I got mine from Avatar a couple months ago, it was $141. My buddy got one a week ago for $139. We each need another, so we will see if there is any discount for multiples... they do seem cheaper when you get them in a cab.

I applied for an account at CE. That would sure be nice, for all the constant building I'm doing, since I usually order most of my stuff from AES... the expense of it is what slows me down from doing more projects.

It'd sure be worth it getting an account with them. Hope it works out for you. They have Blues for $224 a pop and Golds for $232. Prompt shipping and great service.

Egads! No need to win me over; I'm there! If only you could help sell me to them!

CE Distribution has tightened their requirements to have a wholesale account with them. It used to be "got an amp website, prices, phone # and email address and you're official..." That was 12 years ago or so.

Since then it's evolved into a resale card, business license, website with product listings/prices, and other stuff.

I actually had to change my site a few years back for them and paypal to include shipping policies, return policies, etc.

So it's not as easy to get a CE account as it used to be. Good luck, though!

Haha! Well, here's to hoping that some new employee makes a mistake and accepts me. I'm not holding my breathe. I guess it's still AES and Avatar for me... and lots more time dreaming about building projects than actually working on them.

I tried a couple years ago and they wanted my business license number, which I don't have.

Ya, they asked for a bunch of stuff that I don't really have. It would be easier if I found a local friend with an appropriate business. Can't think of any, so I just ordered my second Creamback from Avatar.

$139 for the G12M-65 and $149 for the G12H-75. Shipping is free in the U.S.
This is a situation where I use a shipping outlet just across the border in Washington to pick my stuff up from.
I sold my pair of G12H30s yesterday on Kijiji, so now I am moving to one 2x12 with 65watt creambacks and another 2x12 with WGS ET65s. I ordered my ET65 from Musician's Friend today too, since their shipping is also free.
