Reeves Vintage Purple Speakers

Anyone tried these before? They seem to be exclusive to Reeves and only available through them. I read that they're made by Eminence. Price isn't too bad at $129 a pop. Worth trying?

Label says made in USA. Isn't Eminence A UK-based company? I've read positive comments about this speaker.

Interesting as I'm sure these speakers also are made by Eminence and are clones of the old Fane speakers. The amps look interesting too, but then again I've always liked Jimmy Pages tones.

I've never had any Eminence speaker... I don't think. Doesn't mean I have anything against them. Would be pretty nice if they are indeed the ones who make the Vintage Purps! I do like this clip. I'm guessing these speakers are in that cab. If so, I think I'll pop on a couple or quad.

I recently installed a Weber Californian in a client's marshall combo. I can't ever recall being as impressed with a new speaker as I was with that one. He has a fair number of hours on it now and it keeps getting sweeter. They also make a Fane Sovereign clone that we'll try out sometime soon.

I have a 4 x 10" cabinet filled with Eminence Legends. That too is a fine speaker.

Speakers like these are very hi-fi and not at all like most Celestion types. I would like to hear this purple thing.

Lance Keltner is a good guitarist, but you have to remember he is demonstrating the product for a fee. I don't think he is the guy to demonstrate a Jimmy Page amp, but it does sound good.

I wonder how it compares to the Hitone amp. Mark Huss had built that amp up many years ago so I wonder who was first in releasing it?

It's a tough gig building a HiWatt clone, I've seen inside a 200 watt amp. Incredible workmanship. The sort of stuff Marshall, Vox, and Fender can only dream of. The sort of workmanship Trainwreck and Dumble can only dream of. The soldering and the finish on the solder joints is very professional.

I wonder where one finds info on mil spec soldering techniques?
I have learn't some of them and I know how to correctly attach a component to a turret, but heaven help you find the crimping tool (used to put the bends in the component leads to minimize stress on the component.)

I'd love to hear a shoot out between the two speakers and amps, but I'd probably like both of them.

Scroll about half-way down the page. There are two sizes available: Large Lead Bender and Small Lead Bender. Simple and effective.
