While acknowledging modern builders that offer a high quality product I was wondering what some of the opinions of the board would suggest as build quality and tone that would be available in terms of the high end high 'tweak' modern type of amplifier available today . I would think using high quality parts and the pure tone in the best interest . Effect loops and modern technology included .
I understand alot of different technology is available and was curious what you feel are some top notch designs out their today . Tone and the ability to roll back the volume and have a great clean tone as well .

Modern tone
I have a Bad Cat Hot Cat that is one of my current favorites. A lot different than my Mesa's. As far as TW inspired modern amps, the Komet is about a close as you can get in a production amp IMO.

Thanks Murph , I've had a few nice encounters with the Matchless / Bad Cat Lineage . Tell me about that bad boy . And you guys have to have some opinions about some nice sounding modern gear . I'll spill some beans and maybe we can get some balls rollin . Ken always loved the HotCake . That beast was a tailor made wreck front end specialty. You gotta wreck ? You need the Cake . Mid shift prefered but , hey , Hendrix didn't mind towin around a curly chord and a few tag alongs to Git the Goods hugh ? The Rocket was designed to take effects ! If you consider an Ampeg V4 , that puppy was the optimist . It was not a wide open monster , It could be in the early days . But later on with the funky distortion knob and reverb it was more of a pristine BEAST . Loved the pedals . Why ? Primarily the frequency response . The big Iron was very freindly to the bottom that alot of amps did not have . That was always the missing denomination for stompbox TERROR ! The parametric EQ was GOLD and the frequency cues were spot on to dial in that kind of LoVe ! I feel the Rocket had that added 'tweak' to git ya there , like our boy knew how to do . Come on now , gotta be some builds you guys love ? I really like the Allesandro stuff . His take is unique . He may not dial in a certain sound . BUT , in my experience , his stuff always loves pedals ( big bottom ) and the top is soooo sweet . Paper in oil caps was a big project of mine , and until recent , they were breaking down , so longevity became an issue . Just my observations , plus George is such a nice man . His UL designs and octals are so unique . Bump...

Bad Cat
I bought my Bad Cat from a friend who sold it too cheap ( and wanted it back ever since). It has a lot more gain than the Matchless and is very responsive. Amazing volume and tone from a 1x12. I never have to run the gain more than 1:00. I only use a chorus pedal in front of it occasionally as I never had the coordination for stomp boxes
I have a late 80's 1x12 Mesa 50+ 4 x el84's that sounds great but lacks the power for live use. It is great for recording though.
I have a early rack-mount dual rectifier with the oversize 4x12 that has the great Soldano modern tone but since I stopped touring and have no crew I hate to drag it around.
Currently in the final build stages of a modded Express that will be housed in a 1x12 combo cab.

Mark , your so right , I've been visiting and reading for a few weeks , being away for a while and you nailed it . You guys build some phenomenal stuff . Actually , from what I have seen and heard , although limited , since I have not read all the pages here yet , I would love for you guys to bring me up to speed . I was probably not that specific , but thought you all would throw some killer info on the block . Its still early and I can't wait to hear more , some of the homebrew builds here are simply the best on the globe . David
