Bunch of pics....
I found an old disc with a bunch of pics on it. The earliest of these were built back in '98 or '99. there's even a pic of a batch of boxes coming out of the kitchen.

There all great works of art, but the second cab is my favorite is that Hickory or Clairo Walnut?

Nice cabs!!!
Re: Bunch of pics....
Beautiful!
One thing, though...
all these seems to be made with mitered joints.
Are there any reinforcements inside or in the joint itself?

Re: Bunch of pics....
I also would like to know any reinforcement at the cab joint area. No any mention on the cab drawing. I don't think just only the glue will be strong to stand for the total weight.

That second cab is chestnut, that wood came out of a 100 year old farm house. The cabs are made with biscuits and wood cleats. The guy that built most of these is a 35 year cabinet maker.

Re: Bunch of pics....
If biscuits are placed correctly cleats are not needed and it cleans up the inside of the cabinet.
I use 19 biscuits in every Wreck style cab and they are extremely strong.
These cabs look great.
I would like to see a picture of the inside if you have one.

Re: Bunch of pics....
Some of these amps have been banging around in the backs of vans for 10 years with no stability issues. The cleats are for the front panel. The very first ones had that panel dadoed in, and then biscuits and then just the cleats. I'll take a back pic of one tonight. Here's another cool looking cab but totally different amp.

Send me some of the that 100 year old wood
Kidding. I have been using cheaper woods, sorry. I need to get my skills down before I cut into that beautiful woods.
Distortion your cabs are very nice too.

Re: Bunch of pics....
He got me enough of that chestnut for two boxes and the rest of it went into a $2 million dollar summer house on Lake Chatauqua, NY.
Re: Bunch of pics....
We should all meet at that summer house, this summer, for a jam.
Hickory was nice I love the grain and figuring in that wood. I would rather see that wood go into our amplifiers than those rich homes. Or my grand kids toy box would be OK too.

They don't let the poor folks in there during the summer, only in the winter to get things cleaned up for 'em

Re: Bunch of pics....
These are some heirloom grade cabs Mr tubedogsmith.
(Of the Boston Tubedogsmith's?)
Those are some nervy bastiches letting these babies roll around
in the back of their tour vans! I'll not have it.
Which reminds me, does anyone incorporate handles in their cabs?
Well besides the brilliant ones defined by Distortion on the few I've seen.
I suppose carrying these builds like "Madonna w/ child" makes perfect sense.
To have a typical handle fail would crush an owner's heart. An ATA type
flight case seems like cheap insurance in the long run.
Thanks for sharing the great builds man!
