Wow! I like the upright toroidal :shock:

1650G has only 5k primary iirc?

Congrats on the fine build!

@el martin

the 1650g has 6600 prim

@mcrracer

Uhm... what's holding the toroid in place?
It looks like it only the wires coming off it, that holds it...

there is a 2" wide angle mounted from behind, otherwise it won't hold in place.

Nice work.

I was actually wondering the other day if it would be OK to put one of those metal-jacketed power resistors on a circuit board, as opposed to bolting it directly to the chassis.

Very Interesting!

Do you find the noise level at all higher with the elevated lead dressing?

Those toroidal transformers always look like something out of a space ship!

Very cool and tidy build for sure. :D

thanks for all the kind words. :)

@structo
i really couldn't tell a difference in noise level between the two builds of mine. they are both the same, with the same tubes in it.

@drew
i've used the power resistors allready in my first build with no problems at all.

I had revisited this tread and looking at the wiring job on this amp. That is on nice job. How the heck did you get your filament wires laced together so nice.

the wires are all twisted by hand. but you have to twist them completely first for all the tubes. and when you've done this, you solder them to the tubes and the small terminal you can see on the pictures.
