12AT7, 12AX7, 12AU7 for my Liverpool

What a really nice combination of tubes. Had some time to play around with a bunch and so far have found a great combination:

- JAN 12AT7 in V1
- new Tung Sol 12AX7 in V2
- NOS Phillips 12AU7 in V3

The lower gain characteristics of the 12AU7 adds a nice chime & sparkle to the amp. Now playing through a 2x12 with a Blue/G12H30 gives a really great eL84 sounds. Still can pop a note and get that harmonic feedback but it sounds cleaner...just a little less hair on the notes.

Can't wait to jam with this amp!

Lower gain pre's can help an Express too. I like a 12AT7 in the PI of my Express.

I don't have a Liverpool, but I am building a Rocket (well, its been on hold for some time, but I'll get abck to itin the new year), and may try this trick there too.
