Speaker Queation

Post by gahult »

Hi,

I have a pair of Jensen 10" C10r 8 ohm speaker in my Gretsch Amp. They are rated at 25W each. Will they take the output of an express for testing the amp. I just need to know if she squeals like a pig and I have sound before I button her up. I'll worry about voicing etc. when I get my skumbacks.

Thanks,

Gary

You're ok for testing, but be aware that in full roar the Express puts out over 100 watts. Does your Gretsch have the 3 inch tweeter? Better disconnect that.

Thanks for the reply. I disconnected the tweeter as you suggested. Dern, would have blown that out on the floor somewhere :) . Will let you know of I need to replace the Jensens . But, as they say "I gotta know". I will be getting some other speakers once the dust dies down (and the wife cools down....warms up  )

I wouldn't turn that Express up past 2-3 on the volume knob with those poor old speakers...unless you're looking for a short fireworks show. 8)

I'd be real careful if I were you. Good luck.

Thanks, I surely won't load em up. Just looking for switched leads on the OT, oscillations, or if anything is there at all :) . I'll play on my Gretsch till I get some "real" speakers.
Thanks again.
