Express / LIverpool / Rocket document updates- 21 Sept 08

Post by Ron Worley »

I've updated all of the BOM's for all 3 amps, particularly to include the Panasonic cap P/Ns for the Rocket.

I have also updated the Express build guide with better info on the Impedance switch wiring, the cabinet dimensions corrected and other miscellaneous bits.

For any new folks, they're in the Document section as stickys.....

Sorry for the long delay, a month of moving, building an Express for a friend in 2 weeks and then a week in the UK has left little time to keep up with it....

Here's "Carol", the second Express (on the right next to her slightly older sibling Teri Lin):

Enjoy!!

Ron

Ron, The amps and cabs look first rate. Is the second amp's cab one of
those "plantation grade" drawers? Those things certainly can cut the mustard.

Gawd, moving in that Tejas heat must've been oppressive at best. I'll bet you don't do that again soon.

Those Greenlee punches will go out in the mail this week. They're so heavy that I may send them UPS or Fed Ex instead.

Again, great job on the amps!

That certainly puts in mind a variation on Lawrence's answer to the question of what he would do with a million dollars. Two real Wrecks at once -- you could make that happen if you had a million dollars.

Thanks guys, it was fun trying to put together a wreck in a 100+ degree garage shop in 2 weeks... never again...

Noel- Yes, they are both the South American plantation grown cherry drawer cabs- not anything as nice as what the pros here make (i.e. Distortion's), but they work- $75 worth of serviceable....

The move in this heat sucked such that common decency prohibits accurate commentary... I won't do that again!

Funny you say that...I was day dreaming the other day about what I'd do with a couple Mil. Besides pay off bills and custom build a house and all...

I came up with the plan of flying out to that one shop in New York that has a few Trainwrecks, and buying the Billy Gibbons and the George Lynch ones. And probably one other that I've not decided on.

Ron, they look great! I feel bad that you got so much done in less time then I did....I wish I wasn't so sick lately, I have too much motivation to just sit around the house and be sick!

Eric-

I hope you get better, this has been going on for awhile, hasn't it???

I did the second one because I had a deadline hanging over my head... I had to get it done in time to take it to the UK.... otherwise, I don't think that I would have pushed nearly so hard....

As the Lucky Recipient, I can only say how incredibly Honoured and touched I am by your incredible kindness Ron.

You'll be pleased to hear that "Carol" is doing fine service and her presence has been duly noted by the surrounding neighbourhood.

I have had a "slight" result in that I have been offered a 4X12 loaded with Greenbacks that dates back a very long way. Jeff has some rather special ones sitting up in Yorkshire and I can have my pick.

The other Carol in my life has yet to be told about these developments....

Gents, my I introduce Rob Stobbs, the owner of "Carol", and an esteemed English guitarist who has played with many rather well known bands in his earlier years (Uriah Heep being one). He has been on a personal friendship basis with others such as the late Rory Gallagher amongst others.

During a particularly shitty part of my life, Rob sent me a Matamp C7 sight unseen to buoy my spirits, and well, I certainly will never forget that. See below for a shot of this little Class A single ended 1-EL34 screamer. It supposed to be 7 watts, but it's more like 20 at full tilt...

So Mr. Stobbs, why didn't we get one of those Marshall cabs for me to stuff into my suitcase on my return????

EDIT: Changes to all BOMs and the Build Guide- nothing huge, but correcting some Cap numbers on the Liverpool, numerous hardware changes on all three BOMs and some additional Hum troubleshooting info from a recent post in the Build Guide.
