Hey All;
Does anyone have any experience with the Marshall 1960TV cab? If so, what kind of tonal differences are there between the TV cab and a regular 4x12? Think one of these would work well with an Express clone?
I found one near mint for a good price from the original owner. I believe this one was made in the late 80's or early 90's. It has the greenbacks in it that originally came with the cabinet and they all are working nicely. I may pick it up anyway, but I wanted info from people who may know how this thing sounds; I imagine the larger size will effect the tone.
Thanks.
JT

It's still a 4x12 sealed back slant cab with Greenbacks... can't sound all that different....
If it's a good deal, I'd go for it.... Plus, that's why we have tone circuits on the amp!!!

Good point Ron; thanks. It is a sealed 4x12 w/greenbacks (the better part of 20 years old), and in nice shape; just a bit taller than the other Marshall 4x12 cabs. It has the basketweave grill and the back panel is solid rather than fiberboard. It's a good deal; the speakers are probably worth as much as the cab is selling for.

You'd be best advised to pick that up asap, if it's as described. The bigger cab adds a little low end 'whoomp' thats quite nice.

I agree, and that taller cab puts those upper 2 12" speakers even more.. I bet it projects like a Mofo....

Thanks guys. I bought it-cheap ($450).
The thing is from the late 80s or early 90s (the owner couldn't remember when he bought it), and is practically mint. It has the original greenbacks that came with it, and unlike getting new ones, these are broken in. I figured if nothing else, the speakers were worth what I paid, and if I don't like it, I can probably sell it to someone else. I have an old Marshall cab too, which I was planning on using, but I couldn't pass this up.
I bet it sounds good with my Express Clone. Richie says I should have it by June, and my shoulder should be in good enough shape for me to get back to really playing by then.
