Hello, neewbie question

Post by fredy »

Hi guys, i am pretty new to amp making, (i have only made a kit before) and would like to take on an express. I dont have the expertise or the funding to build from scratch so i was wondering what you could recomend in the form of a kit. Ceriatone is the only place i can find such a kit but from the videos i have seen on youtube, thier kit isnt really for me sound wise.

Are ceriatone kits easy to mod?
and are there any sound clips of the ceriatone express (or other kits for that matter) on the internet other than what has beenposted on youtube? i have been searching this site but to no avail.

thanks in advance, fred.

Check in the files section.

Theres a few clips of Glen Kuykendall (geetarpicker [sp?]) playing his Original Trainwreck and then swapping his tubes into a ceriatone.

They sound pretty damn close IMHO. There is a few differences, but that can change with age and tube selection.

I haven't seen the ceriatone youtube vids but I have one and I love it. It is very "express" sounding although I use alnico speakers that are higher efficiency than others use.

Also trainwrecks are player dependent, they highlight everything. I'm a firm believer that 90% of the tone is how you play. Geetarpicker could make any amp sound great.

Yeah, Glen's videos on You Tube are a good place to start. They are what inspire me to press on with My Ceriatone build and try to dial it in to sound like his amp as best as I can.

He also has a CD out you might want to listen to. Though I have to say, I personally just enjoy his noodling on you tube. I wish he'd make more (hint hint Glen!)
