kometious astroid 60w build - question about bias resistor

Post by Roe »

how do I get 240v with the HTS-8593? Do I hook up the commons (black and purple) and the two 120Vs (white and blue)?

here's the color codes:

HTS-8593

Primary # 1
Common Black
100 Volts Black/White
120 Volts White

Primary # 2
Common Purple
100 Volts Purple/White
120 Volts Blue

thanks in advance

to get 240v you hook the two 120v primaries in series. just hook the white to the purple, stow the leads away, and now you have your 240v pri. with the black and blue as the 2 leads to use. rh

Nice and clean!
What circuit are you following?

The only thing I can offer is watch running your B+ too close to any ac wires.
I had one of the wires from my standby switch too close to a supply line and I was picking up some noise through the OD channel.

Don't let that smoke out!

I had to increase the 470 bias resistor to 4k7 or 10k to get the right bias range with mullard ri el34s - have anyone else had this problem with a komet or astroid build?

OK, I'll bite:

Roe, what is this Holy Grail Cap you're using?

I'm slowly progressing on my K-60 project: it's still very rough, but so far I don't think I'll need to stray from the 470 value for the bias resistor. I'm currently using SED EL34s.

Great looking build, by the way.

The Holy Grail caps are just Cieratone's house branded caps that Nik has made for him. They are just standard caps except his values are 22uf and 47uf instead of 20uf and 40uf like the Mallorys

nik's caps are 100uf. I'll install 4 80uf mallorys soon. (i just have 3 of them now)

this amp is alive and kicking! sounds almost like a cross between my express and '68 jmp50 .
It sounded killer with sec c 6l6GCs today. I'm gonna install the footswitch this summer.
