Finally Finished!!

Post by Blues Hound »

Well, I finally finished my TWE Clone!!! Best sounding amp I have ever had the pleasure to play through. Her name is Karen Ann, after my wife, and she is based on Francesca.

I used the 5.2K Tap on the OT, NOS Mullard EL-34's (xf2) with a NOS Mullard 12AX7 at V1, NOS Telefunken 12AX7 at V2 and a NOS JAN Sylvania 5751 at V3.

Bias set at -30.

that looks very nice! my humble opinion is that it would look really nice with a proper wood burned faceplate as well.

Thank you for kind words...I just wanted to build this amp and do it right.

I was fortunate enough to have Billy Yates look at it before I fired her up the first time.

Fredaxis: I got all the main components from this great site...Boards, PT, OT and the Chassis.

racerx23: I got the Filter Caps from Allied Electronics, same place I got the Mallory PVC caps. Everything else came from Mouser or Billy.

hello there, that's the 1k/25w resistor that's positioned circuit-wise between the plate and screen supplies-----this style of amps' "choke" if you will. rh

Steve, do you have part numbers for the Filter Caps and the Mallory PVC caps you used? I have a Ceriatone kit on the way, completely unassmbled so I can upgrade as I build.

This will be my first TW, and I'm hoping I can make mine as clean of a build as yours!

Thanks!
