Cool! What's the board made out of and where'd you get it?

What kind of wood is the cab?

Is that piping along the top and bottom edge of the faceplate?

The board is the stuff Ken used post '89 (much better to work with). He also wired more under the board.

The Cabinet is Cherry.

The piping is actually weatherstripping. The same stuff I got off a real 'wreck. Ken used weatherstripping to fill the gap. I was told by 2 TW owners that Ken said it was to keep Beer from spilling inside!

Jem, it's made by Vector. It's seems to be more like plastic and machines cleanly. It doesn't melt even when hit with a 750 degree iron! It isn't brittle like the phenolic. I don't know of its makeup. It's obsolete by Vector. i found a small stash in one of my hunts. I compared it to a wreck or two side by side and it's the stuff! :D

Allyn;
I'm not far off from starting a couple of wrecks. What size are the boards? Is it in the files section? I'd like to make up three sets with eyelets in the right places etc.

Allyn,

fantastic Job as usual....
where did you buy the cherry box? Here in Italy, near my home, I was not able to find a man that would make one for me at a fair price...
one asked me a price close to the value of all components needed for the amp!
I can buy even all precutted and worked parts and mount them by myself!
I'm able to finish all parts, make a drwg on the faceplate, mount them, but I can not prepare the round borders and cut at 45° in a good way.

Nice, real nice ;)

Are those boards/components the same dimensionally as Francesca?

Skyboltone; UR12 built some boards based on Francesca's perf, which has holes that are .265" (on center) apart. I can't seem to see his previous pics (with turreted but unpopulated board) at:

https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... hlight=093

but if not, count holes with the Francesca shots. Or someone else will chime in ;)

Francesca used the older phenolic with the trident style clips. The later KF designs (and some of the Komet prototypes I've seen) use this board. The holes are smaller and they use different clips. These clips rock!

Looks like Ken got better at laying out an amp later in the game. There is also more under the board!

Would you mind posting a pic of the preamp to show us how the layout changed?

Thanks,

Jelle, the preamp stayed the same. The power board (pictured above) has most of it's connections under the board. The later Liverpools (pictured below) were the same way. :D
