I just started the turret boards for the Wreck Jr (derailment). My questions is about turret spacing. Is there a safe minimum spacing between the turrets?
I have some that are spaced 1/4" on center, which is roughly .07" between the flange nearest the board. One of them is slightly off, about .06". Is this OK? I'd like to know before I swaged them in.
Most of the older style TW boards used a .265" spacing on the holes but the holes were 3/32 in diameter and used smaller turrets than the ones you are using. The larger turrets were used on boards that had a stock spacing of 3/8 in on center (like a marshall). Electrically you should be fine but you may run into trouble with component spacing like trying to get two .1uf orange drops mounted side by side. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks UR12. The turrets for the orange drops are spaced further apart. I figured it would be OK for the smaller caps and resistors, but just wanted to make sure.
Right you are Lefty. G-10/FR4 board is from McMaster, part number 85345K612. You can get a 12" x 12" for $15.88.
I've looked everywhere for turrets. Newark and Digi-Key have them (non-stocked), but you have to buy 1000's to get a better price than from Ken at turretboards.com. Manufacturer is Keystone, P/N 1503-4 (for 1/8" thick boards). Datasheet is here: http://www.keyelco.com/pdfs/p80.pdf
