Advice on build?

Post by Oddvar R »

Hi. I am looking to build a Trainwreck amp, hopefully only 40/50watts. Not to many relays and stuff, if there is any, Any advice on what to build and where to get pcb's and layouts?

Your wanting to go here to forum member RJs site. Has all the stuff any Wreck nut could want.

http://www.rjguitars.net/

Rooster still has the original Mallory PVC signal caps in the member classifieds too.

No relays and about 35 watts. I would recomend a attenuator...

All the Layout's and schematics are here in the Trainwreck Files section. As for PCB's I don't know if anyone makes any, the originals used eyelet board (I can't remember which right now, but it should be evident if you look a the files section).

Did you mean you would like someone to sell you the eyelet boards? As was mentioned by RockinRocket, RJ has all the needful parts you could order.

Is there a specific amp you had in mind? The Liverpool and Rocket use 4 x EL84's so run around 30 watts, the Express uses 2x EL34 or 2x 6V6 depending on how you want to do it, and that's either 50W or about 30W if I recall for 2x6V6.

Yeah but I think I saw somewhere on the site to contact him and he can work with what you need often.

Suggestion directly contacting RJ (Bob) is good. Understanding I got from a few emails last winter; other distractions plus lack of interest from both community and on his part took the momentum down. Some inventory available through webstore, but uncertain about whether any reorders as things sell off. He can still get transformers and other parts if there is sufficient interest.

Best .. Ian

If you have any interest, I have complete working amps in the for sale section of this site, down at the bottom.

I wonder if the 130v part on the mains switch is to be different on a 230v system?

The MOV needs a voltage rating a bit higher than the input line voltage. I would probably just omit the MOV.
