Preamp Grounding

This is gonna be one of those "why didn't I spot it" questions, but where did KF ground all the preamp stuff (pots, preamp caps, etc.) for Francesca? Been over the pics a few times, but I just seem to be missing it.

The buss bar runs along and is soldered to the bodies of the pots.

I knew it was something simple. I got so hung up on finding a lug or screw grounding point, missed the obvious; Pot casings.

question, is that a hombrew or a real wreck? just curious, because that .1uf hanging off the pot will probably break free one day. looks like the lead is just laid on top and then soldered, not physically attach with a loop.

It may indeed be bad engineering, but it seems to work. I'm reminded of an old engineer friend who used to say "In theory, theory is the same as practice; but not in practice." Sometimes we outthink ourselves. Blackface Fender amps had the tubes hanging down, directing all their heat into the chassis. That's bad engineering too, but those amps are still running after 40 years.

Apropos to nothing, while looking closely at the photograph I noticed just below the cap in question, right next to the turret board mounting screw, something small and pale green with jagged edges... is that a LEAF?

No, I think maple leaves sound kinda bright....

I don't know what kind of leaf that is but i'll bet if you smoke it your amp will sound a lot better

running tubes upside down and a potential short circuit from a broken solder joint are 2 completely different things. one is a longevity issue, which fender could give a damn about, ever, and the other is a safety issue, which a lawyer would definitely care about.

but, you are right. nothing is probably gonna happen. no worries.
