Liverpool Switchable Master Volume

Post by Guy77 »

I made my Type 3 Master volume on my Liverpool switchable. This way I can set the master volume at a desired level and when I flip the SPDT switch it goes from no master volume to engaging the master volume and then cranking the guitar volume can give you a nice overdrive tone at reasonable volumes. This is especially great for single coil guitars.
It works great and there is no popping noise when I flip the the toggle switch. The pot I used for the Master volume is a 10K linear . I tried all sizes and this works best.

The only thing that would make this perfect would be if when I flip the switch and the master is engaged then the guitar volume could increase as well without me having to manually dial up the guitar volume.

The pic below shows the 2 yellow wires one going to the switch and one going to the 10k pot and then 1 red wire from the switch to the pot.

Cheers!

If you put the MV on a relay, you could use your foot to make the switch, freeing up your hand to take care of the guitar's volume control.

Yes that would work great! I used them on my dumble build and now realise how handy they can be here.

Cheers
