Trainwreck clips

Post by Richie »

I thought this might be fun. I'm posting a couple clips, one is Geetarpicker [Glen]s Trainwreck Express, and the other clip is an amp i built, that Glen recorded [Thanks Glen!].Similar to the Ceriatone shootout
Still need to work a bug or 2 out on it,but still will be fun to know what you think of the 2 clips. You can put both clips up and play the same pharses one at a time to get more of an idea of the differences.
I'll post which one is what later. I also posted these on TGP.

Hey nice clips!

Clip 1 is smoother, with slightly more "bounce" in the feel. It seems as if GK felt it would follow his intentions a bit more. Great clean, great roll into overdrive, leads sound like they want to sing forever. Bass frequencies are clearer than clip 2. More compressed when cranked.

Clip 2 sounds less smooth, but not harsh. Cleans are 95% of clip 1, and the snarky snarling leads are grrrreat! Kind of like a different take on the Express voice. Not as compressed when cranked, but that's a cool thing! Maybe I would call it "more aggressive" than clip 1, actually!

Either way, both sound great and do their thing very nicely. Fun to listen to! Thanks!

Have a great day!

Amp 1 sounds a little more broken in to me and I am guessing that this is the real TW.

Amp 2 sounds great but is a bit more harsh.

These old ears aren't what they use to be... I'm hardpressed to hear that much of a difference between the two. I located the same lick in both recordings and played them one after the other and I can't hear a lot of difference. The first one seems to have a little more harmonics going on and seems a bit louder than the second. They both sound wonderful and I'd love to own either one.

not your old ears fault, I have a not so old pair of them and I wouldn't risk pointing out which clip is the original amp...

On the one hand the first one appears to be a little more compressed and therefore gives a feeling of being more broken in, but I get this feeling more on the cleanish tones, on the other hand the second one in my opinion comes closer to the sound I'm used to hear from Glen's clips, when if comes to the overall sonic signature...

So I really can't point out which is which!

Well, my ears are shot, but the first clip seems to have more complex harmonics to me.

Can hear a difference. Too bad 'cause I can't afford to buy a real one.

Did GeetarPicker mention any difference in overall volume? I know he found the Ceriatone to be noticeably louder than his.

Here is my vote:

clip1: Trainwreck
clip2: Ceriatone

Having said that, both clips were very good!

both clips sound really good to me clip 1 is just a little sweeter, but i think that if you listened to the clips 2 minutes apart you woundn't tell the difference IMO

This is fun, thanks for posting this.

I also vote for #1 as the TW. #2 doesn't sound bad though, just not quite as nice.
