I have read very little about substituting 6L6s for EL34s or 6V6s and am curious about the tonal difference. Assuming the A1a schematic for the amp, is it as simple as swapping the tubes and rebiasing the amp?
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Substituting 6L6s
I went through this but with a different build, a P1 Ex. But the principle remains the same. You have to take into account max dissipation and reflected load.
There are some warnings about what you can/cannot do in KOC TUT1; if I remember correctly, it was about the heater current draw. I will check later today and confirm.

Re: Substituting 6L6s
From EL34's TO 6L6 yes, although the 6L6 has a dissipation of 30 Watts and you may need to change your bias range resistor to allow more negative voltage to bias them properly. If you're going the other way you have to disconnect the Grid stopper resistor from Pin 1, and take the wire that was on pin 1 and hook it directly to the end of the resistor that's not connected, and hook pin 1 and 8 together, also make sure your screen resistor is 1K 5W.
