Hi to everyone...
yesterday I received my used z airbrake (made under license of trainwreck)... sound is very good (better than my THD).. but I have a problem:
when I use the bedroom level I have to reduce the output volume more than the bedr. level now does.
I opened the box and see that it's basically the same as per scheme I saw in this forum.. so I need an help!
in which way can I reduce the output volume at bedroom level?
- de-solder the cap on the level pot
- in the level pot I have an input and an output, but I have the 3rd pin free... can i connect it to ground? (connect it to the selector.. where many pins are soldered together and to ground)
- .... other things
Thanks to everyone for the help
Stefano

Re: airbrake mods
I fyou look at the big resistor with the adjustable clips, you can move those up and down the resistor for different levels..
I believe that is correct.. so you could tune it to what you like, not just what the schem says to use...

Hey man, you're leanin on my dream......

thank you very much... but moving clips makes setting the various levels, while the bedroom level takes sound directly from the end of the big resistor

AFAIK, the Airbrake is designed for a max attenuation of about -30dB. To get it lower than that, you might try adding a switchable shunt in parallel with the existing resistor. The problem is that you start getting very fizzy at max bedroom settings. Taking it even lower may produce some pretty nasty tone.
