Such A Deal...

Post by JoeCon »

Gentlemen,

I went over all my purchases for my first build, a lovely Folwer 18Watt Rocket, and found the total cost of parts was...$403.25

I sourced most stuff from A.E.S, Mouser, McMaster-Carr with a DDawg chassis and Edcor transformers off their website. I opted for a 280-0-280 power and an 8K 30watt output.

I did all the cutting, punching and drilling myself so that saved some dough right there. And I simplified as I went along like NO standby switch, NO rectifier tube or socket, No choke..Just need to buy a nice head cab yet.

You cannot buy an amp that sounds like this one for anywhere near $400!!
Again let me thank you guys for all the help and getting me to start building my own amps. I've got two now and...I Want More!!

See ya...

Just think of cost savings when you find some nice thrown out amp chassis with working transformers to use to build some amps.

Keep your eyes out on clean up days, garage sales, friends/family, and thrift shops.

A local TAG member Benoit brought over 7 amps for me to build low cost amps out of, bless his heart. Plus parts given to me from colossal, Mikey, Bob (rjguitar) and Bob S.

I want to build some amps to give away to guitarists down on their luck.

I keep my eyes open for things that I can pervert to amp use.

Bread pans, tool boxes, toasters, etc.

You shouldn't be playing around with whores unless your confident you won't loose the coin toss. :)

You may not be rich but your loaded with great guitars and amps buddy.
