After pondering for couple months I decided to take the plunge and mod an older amp that I had built. Of course it will have the wrong trannies (4K P/P and a bit more B+ (~440) but it will give me an idea if I want to build another from scratch. Here are the completed boards for power supply and preamp/phase inverter. You can follow my BLOG of the build at http://www.glaswerks.com/wreck/wreck_project.htm
Also, what is the consensus on 1M versus 250K tone controls. I am using .022uf mid and bass caps with a 500pf treble. On the tone recovery amp I am using a .002uf (150M) and a 150K to ground.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,

The schematics I've posted seem to be correct, and that amp (Kelly '90) used 1M pots as well as the other values you have chosen. I've built two clones using the stock Fender transformers and the sound/response of each was unlike any other amp I've played. Exactly like an original TW? Maybe not,.. but much better than any "commercial" amp. Additionally, my first clone used an old Fender Twin Amp chassis running about that same on the B+. You may want to build another later, but I'll bet you like what you hear on this one.

Thanks David, you hit upon the reason I am building one. I played a friend in San Diego's TW clone and was blown away by the tone, touch and overall feel of the amp. Simply incredible.
I am using the Kelly as the basis for the first attempt.

I built A1A with a 250K bass pot, and the amp seemed to be a bit lacking in bass unless I turned the bass control way up. Then I changed that bass pot to 1 meg per the Kelly schematic. I'm pretty sure that the bass content of the signal went up a fair amount (not just the sweep of the pot) - I have to play the thing with the bass pot no higher than 0 or 1 (on a scale of 10) with a Les Paul or a 335. I haven't played a Tele or Strat through it yet, the bass response may fit those guitars better with the 1 meg pot, but I'm tempted to go back to the 250K. I'd rather be running the bass control in the middle of its sweep most of the time, so there's some reduction available when needed.

Thanks for the info on the pots. I just finished the amp and now it is time to start the personalization process. I need to play with the tone controls a little more, but they seem to be ok. They are not as response as some amps but usable.
