New blues recording with 1985 Express "Lori"

Post by geetarpicker »

I recently played on this blues track, and used my 1985 Trainwreck Express.

The electric guitar is one track, recorded with two mics and no EQ during mix down. I did sacrifice tone a little bit (due to late night tracking) as the amp was attenuated 12db. This made it just a tad dirtier and slightly darker than without the ATT but still a nice tone that fit the song. That said, this amp is a very clean sounding Express and even on 1-2pm it's almost clean when you play lightly. I didn't work the guitar knobs any, simply kept it up and just played lighter on the cleaner sections and hit it very hard during the solos. Hope you all dig it! GK

"Shame" written and sung by Dale Hall
Guitar and bass by Glen Kuykendall
Drums by Rory Faciane

Glen, nice song and very nice playing, indeed. I like the way you paint. I am assuming that's a strat?
This made it just a tad dirtier and slightly darker than without the ATT but still a nice tone that fit the song.
We all paint in our own way, so we all have different preferences. I agree with your comments about the tone. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the music.

Yes it's my ash body Fender relic strat w/Fralin pickups and a Suhr hum cancelling back plate. Thanks!

Excellent Glen! I understand what you mean by slightly darker. Works well in this instance.
Great job!

PS. Any closer to releasing your second album? Looking forward to it.
