Meet Kachina, spirit dancer
My Trainwreck Express clone finally finished. An artist buddy of mine did the pyrography of Kokopelli...[/img]

I love the Kokopelli motif. I always thought the myth shared much of the classic bluesman symbolism. The Shaman comes to town, plays his instrument, and the corn grows and all the women get pregnant.
I used to have a bunch of Kokopelli trinkets, my wife made me get rid of them after third kid.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood.

Well done!
Hard to beat the curl in that maple. I bet it really pops in the right light!
Can I ask how you finished the wood? Poly, nitro, other laquer?
TIA,
Dave O.

I used an antique maple dye in a water base to stain the wood... sanded most of that stain off. The figured wood absorbs more stain than the surrounding wood. I re-stained it to give the wood a little color. The process makes the figure stand out more. The actual finish is tung oil buffed with 0000 steel wool. I will admit that the finish takes a long time to put on there as you have to wait for each coat to dry, but the oil really accentuates the grain even more.ampgeek wrote:Well done!

I don't have a setup to record clips, but the amp does sound very good... all the tubes were NOS, the pre-amps all Sylvania 12AX7s and a Dutch friend gave me a set of old Philips EL34s for the power tubes. I made a few dumb mistakes wiring the amp, but thanks to the good folks in the forum and especially Mark, I got it all straightened out and I'm real pleased both with how it sounds and how she looks.
