Handle on a Trainwreck head?

Does nobody put a handle on top of the head to carry it? I put one on my Express, but offset it to balance out the huge Foster PT I used. I'm doing a cherry cabinet for my Rocket and I don't see how I can just rely on the 45% miter joints to hold up if I use a handle.

BTW, on my Express I re-used a pine head cab I built for a Laney AOR30 and covered it with burl ash veneer.

You could use a strap setup like a towel carrier if you didn't want to damage your head cab.

I want to get handles cut into the side panels in my next cab... Similar to this :

Well if you have dovetail joints, side handles would be just fine...

I have one on mine, but it is centralised (see avatar pic). I'm not sure entirely sure of the cabs construction as I had it made and tolexed.

It is a bit imbalanced when carrying it due to the weight of the trannies, but it's not a problem as long as you remember that before you pick it up!

I put one on my Liverpool head, centered over the center of gravity. I did dovetailed joints on my cab.

Those side handles do look pretty sweet, probably some added ventalation as well.

That was something that my dad helped me develop. He was the paint guy at the local hardware store and he made up this stuff we called "Tough Black" It's a latex based paint and the really nice thing is that when it gets to looking abused, you just pull the amp out and spray paint it with some flat black and it looks just like new.

Great idea! Also makes a good weather proof surface as well right?
