finished my liverpool last night. was able to check voltages and such last night and got to plug and play today.
tubes are nothing special right now:
EL84's are JJ's.
2xSovtek 12Ax7's preamp
1xold hammond 12AX7 PI
C8/R7 are 0.0047uF/68k.
i used an 820 grid stopper on V1a.
filter caps are F&T.
i've attached a soundclip. apologies in advance for the playing - i'm not geetarpicker or anything. its pretty lame but shows that the thing works. just kind of sat down and played. also, this think is so stinkin' loud i could only turn it up to ~ 3/10. this was literally shaking my house and knocked a glass of the edge of a nearby table. played through a carvin 2x12 GT12 speaker cab.
thoughts:
- LOUD!
- no hum, and the hiss is completely acceptable with the guitar volume at 0. there may perhaps be a little too much hiss with the guitar volume open, but you can't hear it on the recording or in person when you're actually picking. probably a result of the tele - its the only guitar i have so no chance of humbuckers getting tried anytime soon.
- its a little more unforgiving than other amps i've played. first impressions are that its so percussive that when i half miss a note you really hear the click or beat for lack of better description. great for palm muting, etc but when you don't mean to do it.
the astute observer will notice R9 lacks connection to C9 in the photos. found that and fixed it during my double check of all traces to the schematic.
chassis, transformers, and unpopulated boards from RJ.

Re: My New liverpool-style build
Hi,
Nice build. I´m jallous about the chassis.
But I see you have the cathodes of the (let say) left-left and right-right El84 together. But not the corresponding pairs.
I mean that the Cath. Res. Nr 1 belongs to V4 and V7, Res. Nr. 2 belongs to V5 and V6. This are the pairs. Am I wrong?

hans-jorg great eye.
per the schematic, V4/V7 and V5/V6 are the cathode pairs. the layout in the files section shows that, too.
when i built it i was trying to follow the schematic and the two gut shots posted on this forum (https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... 1d1908a415). i was relying on the photos where a lot of wires crossed rather than the layout file beacuse the photos show 3D - i can see how close wires are to the chassis and where the come up from it.
i thought they showed it as i built it, but i just went back and looked at them again and sure enough, they match the schematic/layout. thanks again.
