TW gig bag idea

Post by Lublin »

This might be a cool option for carrying around your TW clone.

Looks like there will be room on all sides to allow for extra padding, too. The front pocket will be perfect for an attenuator and/or cables.

I'll be ordering one today to try out. I'll report back with my findings and observations. :)

It's back ordered until around 11/11. I'll definitely post the test results after I receive it. Now I have to find a source for good foam.

Cool fact: I was able to use a Groupon that GC offered last week and the bag only ended up costing me $30. Score!

For what it is worth, Gator has discontinued this bag. I called them to ask how much weight it could safely handle, they gave me that news. He couldn't discount the possibility that MF and others might be getting some in however - he said it could be some special arrangement that was made that he wouldn't have visibility of.

He did suggest that they would be good for about 25 pounds. Anybody ever weight their amp? I am not sure if that is enough.

Oh, and he tried to direct me to another case that is similar, but the inside dimensions are not sufficient for a traditional TW size amp.

Has anyone found an alternative to this bag (since Gator discontinued it)?

I'm considering one of these. $100 bux for a hard case is a good deal.

Forgot I posted this thread!

I've had the bag for a while now and it works wonderfully. Grab one if you can find them!

I have a couple cheap leather bags from a truck stop that work well and were only $20 each. I had to cut out one part of the enterior (was an end pocket liner) to allow the amp to slide in from the end. No padding though I throw in a panel of foam rubber.

I just use one of these:

But seriously, I can't believe Glen uses leather bags for his real wrecks. Talk about 'on the edge of stability'!

Yes typically I only use my gig bags for my clones, and even then only in situations where they will be traveling gently! It's only been a few times and no damage at all. That said when I recently picked up my new addition (an original Express Lori '85) I flew to the east coast to do the deal on the amp. It then traveled in a leather gig bag through the airport on a small folding hand truck, then I carried it on the plane to ride safely in the overhead.
