Bubinga Express

Post by Cantplay »

The Wild Rumpus Express cab has begin!

I had some wavy bubinga sitting around, so I cut a front panel and control plate.

I sent them off to Selloutrr to pyrograph. The idea was to use the image from an oil painting I have.

The results of that. The camera does not do this work justice.

I've begun oiling and rubbing the wood. The woods color has popped so much it makes the image more subtle.

Hopefully as it Dries the wood tone will fade in color a bit. The marble in the wood makes it difficult to seal and not bring out the Deep rich colors. I'm hoping you tried the sealers on the sample piece first. How many coats have you applied so far?
I'm sure it is beautiful in person it was a stunning piece of wood. It's really difficult to photograph.

How fucking cool is that!?!? Beautiful! A perfect philosophical match to the nature of the Express. You have all made Maurice very proud I am sure!

Cheers,

That's really nice man - hope the image pops more for you. Anyway to transfer that to wood with a sealer coat on it then clear over that?

Beautiful wood & artwork. I'm sure the cab will be amazing!!! But in the meanwhile, if you don't mind me asking, what is that tube driven stereo in the photo? Looks real cool & interesting. Cheers.

Those are Decware EL84 SET monoblocks about 2w, and a tubed linestage in the center. The white box is a Sonos ZP80 that streams from a 4TB file server in the next room. Speakers are an Onken type with a modified Fostex running full range.

Sweet!

Very nice art work on the panels.

Cool Hi Fi tube amps as well.

I really want to get into that when time and money allows.
