I have a TR inspired build. It's housed in a tweed Bassman chassis, and uses Bassman transformers running two 6L6's. The front end is all TR with the addition of reverb.
Here's a mod I did that I thought you might find interesting: on V2b I added a switch to go to either the 150k or a typical Fender 1.5k/25uF cathode resistor and cap. The 150k resistor seems to be a KF trademark, however, I tend to like the 1.5k/25uF set up better. The amp really rocks in this mode. The 150k has a tighter sound, and the amp is plenty loud, but at the end of the day I prefer the Fender values. Any thoughts?

thanks,

Re: Third gain stage in TR
ken didn't use a 150k cathode resistor, he used 10k
anything worth doing, is worth doing right
Re: Third gain stage in TR
Yepper, check the value of R7 as well - that is supposed to be 150K.
R8, the cathode resistor for V2A is typically 10K.

Re: Third gain stage in TR
Bad me. I am reffering to the 10K resistor on V2a and switching to the 1.5/25uF "Fender" set up.
Re: Third gain stage in TR
Whew, that's a relief!
How/where are you doing the switching?

Re: Third gain stage in TR
I just use a simple DPDT switch. One side has the 10k the other a 1.5k/22uf. Worth a/b'ing. I'm guessing KF wanted a real tight preamp driving the output stage.
