Did Lynch use a Trainwreck on "Lynch Mob"
I've ALWAYS loved the lead tones on that album!
Just by coincidence I was looking at his website, and wouldn't you know it, it said George had a Trainwreck for some of his studio sessions.
I always thought it was a super sweet Marshall, but I've heard that he used a lot of his Soldano SLO. When I listen to the rhythm I can totally hear the Soldano ... but the leads have this incredible woody, liquid, dark sound to them. I finally put two and two together after listening to the clips on this site (geetarpickers). It sure sounds like a TW to me ... does anyone know?

Damn, two 50 watt plexi heads. I thought I had a better ear than that

Well, at least he owns a Trainwreck. I need to get me familiar with Lynch. I've never really been expopsed to his stuff (except for the clips on the Bogner site).

I've always heard that Bryan Adams guitar player used one, but I'm not sure what albums or songs. I was thinking the Cuts Like A Knfe and Reckless albums have Trainwreck tones on them but I'm not 100% sure.

I recall some interview (GP?) where Keith Scott(?) talks about having some special amp that had a Hiwatt front end combined w/a Vox backend, or something to that effect. Maybe that's the one. I think he also talked about using Marshalls.
Re: Did Lynch use a Trainwreck on "Lynch Mob"
There's a picture of a TW on Lynch's site. It says it was used for the studio sessions, but not how much.

gnugear,
I can't find that page on the lynch website. Is it under the "gear" menu? thanks.

Yeah, it's under the studio gear section. He lists what he used for each album, and for "Lynch Mob" there's a picture of a Wreck.

George Lynch used two 50 watt plexi Marshalls on that album , one on each side of the pan . The origional buzz was that it was one channel soldano and one plexi but no . It was after he stopeed working with the decatone soldano that the skinny came out . The inside is the circuit had the traditional split cathode .68/330 , and the .68 bypass cap on v2 with the 820 resistor . alot of gain . He used greenback 25's in basketweaves . One cab per head . This plus his usual arsenal . He liked to jack the front end with a clean boost like a ge-7 or tubescreamer (808) . Its a great tone but to be hones on a trainwreck scale its about a 7.5 in terms of tone . Of course a wreck being a 9.9 ( according to this american judge) .Georges technique and set up account more for his tone here than you can imagine .
